Azithromycin is a macrolide-type antibiotic and it’s one of the most commonly prescribed antibiotics on the market.
Azithromycin is widely used to treat many different types of bacterial infections such as skin infections, respiratory tract infections (RTIs), middle ear infections, as well as some sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Azithromycin is sold under various brand names, such as Zithromax, Zmax, Z-Pak and others. At the same time, Azithromycin is sold worldwide in a wide range of generic equivalents at more affordable prices. It comes to market as tablets and various types of suspensions. Azithromycin is usually taken once a day.
You cannot use Azithromycin to treat viral infections (flu, cold etc.) because it can’t kill viruses. Remember, that if you ever had jaundice or liver problems you should not use Azithromycin.
